What is Midian Tomb?
The Midian Tomb, also known as “Mugha’ir Shu’ayb,” a name given by pilgrims to the site by the Nabataeans, are one of the most important archaeological sites in NEOM, located in the mountains surrounding Al-Bad’.
Moses spent 10 years in Midian after fleeing Egypt and living in exile there before returning to Egypt and liberating his people from Pharaoh Ramses II.
What is inside/attractions?
- This area is surrounded by the modern city of Al-Bad’, which is believed to have served as the capital of the ancient land of Midian. The Holy Qur’an and the Torah mention the Midianite civilization, which dates back to the 12th century BCE.
- As it sits in a region where shallow wells provide water, it is surrounded by orchards of mango and other fruit trees, making it an oasis in a dry area.

- At this significant oasis, you can explore Midianite-era ruins.
- Those making the Hajj to Mecca stopped here as well, as it was a significant oasis.
- Additionally, the Jabal al Lawz/Jabal Maqla mountain range’s west side dry riverbed canyon entrance is nearby.
